A Pueblo Mágico, an Etsy Artist, & More
Happy Monday! It has been a big season of change for us as a family. A lot is happening at once, and I’ll share more as we get into it over the next few weeks.
This last week, we said goodbye to our second cat in a month, a tough one for us as a family. We were lucky to have a planned trip down to Sequoia National Park this week, with a stay at the new Autocamp location there.
It was just what we needed, a little distraction and time in nature to be together as a family. We did several hikes, visited the famous tall sequoias, spent afternoons at the pool, and all crashed early each night. It was my first time at this NP, and I feel it’s a touch underrated in terms of parks in California.
There are some incredible trails in old groves with meadows, lots of shade to be under, and incredible views back into King Canyon. The one downside to the park is certainly accessibility — it takes a proper 1-hour drive to get into the trails and sights if staying out at Three Rivers (the most popular basecamp area), so be prepared to spend the better portion of each day out there.
If I can give a few tips: avoid the weekends if you can, pre-purchase your park pass, and get an early start.
Ahead, a few weeks at home to recoup, resettle, and take on some of these changes as a family. This week, I’m wrapping up final reservations for our trip to Europe and looking ahead.
Hope you all have a great week, here are my recent screenshots, saves, and finds…
New on Unpacked this week:
For the Toddlers:
I purchased this Yeti tumbler for the second time for S, as we needed an additional one for school, and I love that you can engrave it.
Travel carseats — Our daughter outgrew our beloved lightweight travel carseat, which we’ve taken around the world and back, and we’re upgrading to the Wayb Pico after many great reviews for this year’s abroad trip.
Summer Beauty: I’m ordering my second bottle of the Westman Atelier Sun Tone Hydrating Matte Bronzing Drops, can’t rave more about it. I did parfait 2 for winter, and will be ordering parfait 3 for summer. I’m also trying the Liquid Super Loaded All-Over Illuminating Highlighter with Vitamin C in “peau de peche” in this order.
Household Restock: I can’t rave more about Koala Eco, a plant-based/eco-friendly cleaning line for the home. I’ve been using their line for a few years now, and always keep the "Fruit and Vege Wash” on hand for produce.
Zara Home for Kids: This week, Zara Home for Kids caught my eye. How sweet are these hot air balloon knobs? These scalloped baskets are so whimsical, too.
Hotels that Caught My Eye: My saves this week for hotels were Casa Maca in Ibiza town, a stylish 10-room boutique hotel set in the countryside with impeccable views of Dalt Vila. And then Solo Palacio — one of my top 10 bucket list hotels for Europe, which I had saved over winter. Then I saw the recent images of what summer is like there, and fell in love all over again. Located in the “Las Ubiñas” Natural Park of Asturias, Spain, this is a storied luxury boutique hotel for adults only.
Fashion Finds: I’ve done some serious saving and some ordering this week as I’m looking ahead to late summer and fall in Europe. My current saves and purchases:
The A. Emery Kinto Sandal — a very chic leather strap, everyday sandal
Nylora Alex Leggings — overdue upgrade for workout leggings, trying out a pair of these Nylora Alex
Ancient Greek Zoi Sandal Sale — spotted these leather/braided cord sandals, SO fun
Dôen Traveler cropped top — caved and bought this, love how versatile it is with skirts/denim
Dôen for Gap — I ordered the gingham skirt, and wore it the first day I got it as I loved it so much. It has limited sizes, but check often as they restock quickly. Eyeing it in indigo for fall too.
ETSY Find: I stumbled upon this artist on Instagram who makes the cutest necklace charms. Love the mackerel charm necklace and these matchbox charms, but the real winner for me is these sea-inspired charms.
New Destination On My List: On my next trip down to Mexico City, I’ve been scoping out the “pueblo magico” town of Tepoztlán, about 50 miles out of the city. What first caught my eye was the Amomoxtli Hotel, which is a hotel tucked in a lush jungle with a strong gastronomic focus, hence it being listed on the Michelin Guide. The historic city is surrounded by tall cliffs, has pyramids, and a very unique food scene. It’s a popular day trip from CDMX, but I think it would be a great weekend stay. There is not a ton of great coverage for it, a light guide on Lonely Planet, and this in-depth guide.
